Title: Final pics post exterior restoration
Post by: adamb on 25 February 2012, 12:16 PM
Today marks a year since I started on the 6.9 restoration project and this post marks the end point. Interior restoration will come next but it is by no means urgent.

In preparation for our Brooklands meet next weekend I've given my 6.9 a good wash and polish with Supagard. Given that the car is unlikely to look this clean again I took some pics for all to view.  :) :) :) :) :) Click on the pic to visit the gallery.

Very nice indeed! Looking forward to seeing it up close next Saturday at Brooklands!
I'm not sure how much time I'll get next week to prep my 108, and my 116 is all in bits!

surely one of the nicest looking 116s in the motherland now! now you must make sure not to drive it in the rain or on salty roads again!

I concur,

That is serious "eye candy".

Thank you all. :) Those BBS lookalike wheels really do finish it.

The restoration was done expressly with the intention of using the car more often. Something tells me that fuel will never get cheaper so I want to enjoy this car as much as I can while it is still possible to fill it up.

LPG here is just above half the price of petrol. Given the cost of installation it is not going to be worth it given the low mileage I do each year but it's certainly an option.

Hi Adam

Just back from Russia, and this is the first time I have had to catch-up.  The car looks great, keep it shiny till we get to see it this Saturday! ;)

Regards

Gavin

Very nice...this is what a W116 is supposed to be.  I hope to have one in such shape one day.

Those are lookalike wheels?  Couldn't find real ones or just trying to keep costs down?  What widths are they?

The wheels are new so doubt they are off the same run as cars in the 70s/80s. Spending more money than necessary does not make me happy, if you know what I mean.

Front 16x8 and rear 16x9. Snug fit but the ride is definitely improved. There's a lot more grip too.
