Dumb question, are Bundts universal, in terms of fit?

Hey guys,

As the title says, Are 14in Bundt rims all the same? I know they came on quite a few models over the years, and whenever I look at a pair to buy, I always worry about backspacing and stuff. So were they all made to the same spacing and everything? There's a guy local to me selling some for practically nothing, and I wanna go pick a set up, but I don't wanna get some that are made for a w123, and then they look at sucked back in my wheel well or something.

Btw, I searched for this everywhere, but it seems like it must be common knowledge, and I just missed it. lol

Thanks,
Tony

Tony,

Bundts came in a couple of different sizes:

6x14 and 6.5x14 - I think there was a 5.5x14 in Europe as well, can anyone confirm that?

In the mid 80's MB released a limited number of 7x15 wheels and these were NLA for a long time until a couple of years ago they became available again, but stk is running out again...

123's came with 6x14 and so did 6 cylinder and diesel 116's. All V8's, 350's, 450's and 6.9 had 6.5x14

You can use either size on any 116 but for the car to be correct you should pick what was originally offered by MB. I should point out however that 6.5x14 look nicer because they give the car a little more "muscle" under those large fender wells.

Hope this info helps.

Tks,

Joe

Oh, and you will need 20 of these:

Screw (wheel bolts) MA126 401 06 70 [this is the latest replacement part number], as they are different to the ones used on steel rims.  It would therefore be a good idea to source 5 rims, that way you do not have to keep 5 steel rim type bolts in the boot with a spare steel rim!

Thanks so much, that answers my questions exactly. The main reason I asked is because I was looking at pictures of 116's with Bundts on them, and some of them seemed like they kinda sunk into the wheel well, and they just looked kinda small, but then others looked a little bit meatier with a fuller fit. Now I know why. lol I'll have to ask the guy what size they are. Thanks again!

Hi Tony (and Joe, you may be interested too)

If you want to go the 15inch route, this place can help.  At a price:

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/s_class_w126_alloys

Just click on the rim you want, and it will give you all the details and options.  You will note that you still need to buy the central caps, valves and wheel bolts.

Thanks
