Goodings auction, Pebble Beach, California in August. 1978 450SEL 6.9 owned by the same person from new until 2016 with 32K on the clock. Oddly it has black euro bumpers, Astral Silver/Blue Leather all manuals, tools, fire extinguisher and a full set of blue factory issue mats. Write up Winter no26 Classic Mercedes.

105 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 116.036.12.003902 $100,000 $130,000 N/R $156,750 €134,805 21% Astral Silver over Blue leather. This exceptional example was sold new in early 1978 to a gentleman near Chicago who maintained a large personal automotive stable. Dressed in Astral Silver Metallic over a Blue leather interior, the 6.9 would remain in his care until 2016 with less than 19,000 total miles recorded. Maintenance records indicate that the sedan was sequestered early in its life and has been driven less than 1,000 miles in the past 32 years. It has recently been treated to a thorough detailing and mechanical refurbishment. Accompanied by its manuals, warning triangle, factory fire extinguisher, tool roll, and what may be one of the last NOS sets of factory blue floor mats, this 6.9 is among the finest surviving examples and can assume a place of honor at any gathering of Mercedes-Benz cars.

I cant seem to find any other pictures of it.

Possibly the deceased, former owner had hidden gold bars or bags of coke in that car, and someone found out. 8)

The magazine write up had pictures though not of the interior.

$42,000 for 280,000km 1979 Yorkstar car #6225.  Previusly owned by honourable forum member RD. in Victoria and on carsales.  Velour interior uncommon for Aussie car.
Was a $6000 car in 2007, $11000 car in 2013 and now the high asking price

Yep, that was one of mine.
believe it or not, I purchased it as a parts car for not much money. then thought it was too good to part out and sold it on a few years later.
very original, good mechanically, drove well, but had rust in bad places.
hopefully the rust has been dealt with properly.

Melbourne delivered car with 115,000km wanting $79000 popped up on car sales today.  silver on blue.  using vic roads site the plate suggests #5583. ill check my VIN log to see when I last saw this car later! interesting there are 4-5 reasonable 6.9s for sale at the moment on car sales (as listed) for around the 40k mark which have sat for a while

not really for sale but the sad end of a car I noted on an Australian sale site.  Victorian plates likely long since expired

#4965 has just popped up on carsales.com.au but is sold at the oldtimer centre in NSW.  slightly odd with the over riders.  A brown car, the attached pic is of the car several years ago with the 126 alloys on it.
this 1978 Australian car was sold in 2004 for $13500. then $10000 in 2007. now wants $39500 as of yesterday. it currently has 231000km, whilst in 2004 it had 196000km.

this is the same car in the first three, and second three pics are from 2017 when the car was noted for sale. the first three pics are when the car was noted for sale mid year at around 19k. although it was recently listed as car number #5691, its actually #5646 and is the same car. as it was on a private auction site, I'm not sure what the selling price was, although I think it sold for $19k in 2017.  slightly worse for wear now than previously it seems.

I dont seem to have records on this one. popped up on a dealers site unusually nowadays for 6.9s.
A green on green car for $13,999.
The ad is quite honest and makes no claim to a beauty queen.
Not much else info on it.  No engine shop so not sure if its Aussie although makes reference to 110,000 miles not kilometres.
On historic rego in South Australia.
im not sure why, but someone changed the fader switch to the horn site and vice verse. the location of the fader switch implies an early 76 or prior model?
