Looks like it's in quite good condition besides the ***interesting*** modifications.....  :o

That chrome on the rear lights isn't too bad, but I'd be really concerned about safety impact.  The covers for the rear wheels are hideous - I hate every car that has those and never understood the point.  I guess some people must dig them, though.  Anything else that I missed?

vlv8vic

nah that's all i spotted too.  I don't mind smoke rear lenses, or perhaps the chrome but in a small amount (like the VL Calias from a few years back).
The wheel filler things i don't understand... they were never an option were they? They just don't match the shape or style of the 116.

It may be a bit over-the-top in some aspects, but it's pretty neat. I like the whitewalls and two-tone paint. Cool interior, as well. The taillights are a neat idea, but I won't do that to the NOS ones I just installed! Heck, if you have some that are already cracked or crazed, that would be a great way to hide the imperfections. Fender skirts are cool, but they seem like they would get in the way too much for me. But, this is coming from a fan of the Nash Airflytes that have no wheel openings!

Oh dear, what a mess.

The rear lights and wheel spats look hideous, the rest is not bad. Says it has an aftermarket sunroof, what kind of a massive job would it be to engineer that?

This must be one of the very last D Jets too, June '76 and looks as if he's running diff oil in the engine, 3 bar oel pressure at 600 rpm?

Casey

Oh right, it's debadged too.

And missing half of the front bumper rubber to make way for...the license plate?  Why isn't that just mounted in the center?

Rip all the garbage (IMO) off, and you've got a decent car I'd say.

There is some pimp wondering who is selling his ride on eBay! That thing is tacky with a capital "T". Fender skirts??????? Who would even think........hmmmm.....I'm thinking this car will look much better with tacky Cadillac fender skirts on it!

That crap stuck to the tail lights is just plain wrong. But I guess since they figured it looked so good with the fender skirts, that this addition would just top it off.

2 tone paint? Are you sure the top color isn't just primer? It doesn't seem very shiny for "paint"

And I agree.......what kind of undertaking is it to have a sunroof installed? (Glad mine came with a factory one).

I would take all that extra crap off and I bet it sells better than it sits now. I can't believe someone actually emailed him and wants to buy it!!!!

I will now go pour bleach in my eyes to get that sight out of my mind, lol.

You know what that car reminds me of, though? The Mercedes taxis of the Middle East where they have become a hodge-podge of different years parts and become highly accessorized:

It's charming, though, to see so many antique cars still on the road. I grew up in the Middle East and used to see these cars all the time.

Excellent pics there Squiggle, man Syria looks like one big smash up derby track for old benzes, excellent. But what is it with the rear camber on these cars? Do they normally carry a whole extended family in one go or something and have to compensate?

Yea, cool pics Squig.  You would think that diesels would be popular with taxi operators...

Re the w116, it just confirms my thoughts that it takes all kinds of idiots to make this world the way it is  8)
