I'm new here and to MB. name is Bob.  I have the opportunity to own a 1977 450SE for free because it is cluttering a homesite that the new owner is trying to clean up.

It was last registered in 2003, left window is stuck down, left front tire is off but there, comes with a hard top that looks ok.  It doesn't appear to have been crashed.  It's mine if I tow it away.  Only 100 miles away.

Current project is restoration of a 1972 VW bug with my grandson.  Will be done soon.

So, where do I start?  Is there a book on these cars?  I'm aDIY guy so a how to book would be great.  Any suggestions?

The Hard top Reference says its a 450SL, a 2 door Convertible. (Chassis type R107)
Sure, Id grab it.
Engine and mechanical is similar to the W116 and having a C107 myself (SLC Coupe) they are a fun thing to drive and repair.
grab it and start a thread here with lots of pictures.
If it is a W116 450SE 4 door sedan id grab it too and again Piccies fill in the gaps when asking for help.
W116.org has a great tech section with Manuals last I looked and again W116 crossover to 70's 107 chassis is pretty good.
