A pleasant surprise

I've removed the sender unit in the fuel tank of my spares-donor today and got a very pleasant surprise. The car is 36 years old now, and has covered 112k miles in its life, yet, the tank is like new. No sign of any gunk on the bottom, the strainer looks brand new and so does the sender unit. I couldn't believe my eyes, especially that this specific car was never cared for much by its previous owners.

I wonder whether this is testament to the quality of petrol sold in Europe, or whether as a workhorse the car has never been really parked up for long and had constant supply of fresh fuel.
Either way, a mint fuel tank as a spare is never bad :)
