Hi can someone please tell me the correct 16" AMG style Penta wheel for the 6.9...i.e. the ET and also the J (6.5, 7 or 8J). Thankyou

AMG 5 spoke, best to my knowledge, came in 16"x8 ET11 as the smallest (actually narrowest). Gen-II came in different offset for later cars. It is easily ditinghuishable.

225/55-16 tyre would probably be closest in circumferrence to original 215/70-14.

The two options were :

a)  all four 8Jx16et11, with 225/50R16
b) front 8Jx16et11 with 225/50R16, rear 9Jx16et0 with 245/45R16.

The above tyre sizes are what AMG specified, but be aware that the rolling diameter is smaller than the original tyres, especially for a 6.9, and the load ratings are inadequate.

I have gone for the front 8Jx16et11 with 225/50R16, rear 9Jx16et0 with 245/45R16 setup on my red 6.9, and on my pre-facelift 500SEL.

djenka is correct that 225/55R16 would provide a rolling diameter and load rating closer to what the 6.9 required, and is probably what I will go for on my other 6.9 given that the pentas I have for that car are all four 8Jx16.

another option as fitted to my Goldie:

Amg 7.5 X 16 ET 17   with 215/60X 16 Tyres

this combo gives the correct width and slightly great diameter (0.3 of and inch) to the original factory fitting for 6.9's

Also these tyres have the correct load rating

Did you say you have 15" Bundts

They are very sought after for 116's, the originals being 14"

Yes Robertd, 15" Bundts...took me 1.5 years to get them and v rare is locking wheel nuts also!! I run the car on 225/60 15's. When Kendra (my 6.9) is in hiding she sits on 14"s with Kangers and XWXs on them.  Getting the 15" increased my tyre selection from 1 (XWX) to 54 options at the time, they cost me €1kn for the 4!! Transformed the handling especially combined with the fresh boots.....

Nice 6.9 Trident, and my favourite colour combo too! I've never seen this reg on the road, or in any local show (my Goldie is ZV 9485) - do you drive it much?
I had a 350SE like it (ZV 17445 out of Waterford), but it wasn't worth saving and ended up as a parts donor.

There aren't many of us W116ers in Ireland, so it's good to see another owner come out of hiding :D
