I dont know if anyone has ever needed one, but the valve on top of the 5th sphere may be a good part to get. I believe they are NLA.

That part is on the list for next visit. Forecast has rain for the next 6 straight days. The yard turns into a mudpit if it's wet so I try to wait until it drys out to go.

Good on you saving those parts from the crusher!  If the front upper arms are steel I'd grab them too since they're unique to the 6.9.  I've heard the steering linkages and box are too.  The diff would be good since it's a relatively high 2.65 ratio LSD, but it'd probably be a bugger to get out with limited tools and access.  If you could prep the motor and trans for removal and use a hacksaw to cut out the upper radiator support, you could ask them to use the tractor and some chains to pull the motor trans.

BTW the fuel tank isn't too hard to remove and I'd also grab those wheels.....

When it rains, it pours. Car #7160. Off the road since 1993. Interior gone, body is a rusty and dented mess. I've been in contact with the seller, but he doesn't seem too excited about me getting some parts off it.

Seller is a nice guy, but he has grand plans on pulling the motor to sell. But of course, doesn't have time right now. Says cores are going for $1,500 on eBay. I don't know anyone out there looking for a US motor that hasn't ran since 1993. The 116 sitting beside it is just as bad. It's a hubcap car so probably an early 450. Still has the Becker radio in it. Otherwise that car was toast too.

6.9 motors don't sell. Seller might as well cut to the chase and junk it.

Went back to the car today for some little things and to try again on that tow bar. Squiggy was right, those top bolts need to held with a 6mm. The first one I can get, but the rear one I couldn't get my hex socket in because it hits the gas tank. So I'm going to have to get a regular hex key and try it that way. The bolts under the car are 17mm, which is the same size as lugs. I can get my long breaker bar under there to crank on the bolts... I think.

Also the car has 6.5 inch Bundts that are a 108 part number on the front wheels and 6 inch Bundts that are a 126 part number on the rear. Still deciding if I want to grab the 6.5s.

Harv, you are certainly on a mission!
im intrigued by the enthusiasm for the towbar though.  Most classic owners dont want a towbar on their car nowadays, those damn things weight a lot, and they are very awkward to store.  My own personal experience is having wrecked 4-5 6.9s and 10 or so other 116s, no one has ever asked for a towbar.  it just seems like a hell of an effort for a part no one will want.  you are far more likely to use parts like the hydro reservoir and master valve, fuel distributor, warm up regulator or other parts which are a lot easier to get.  this is just from someone who has pulled this stuff before and 5 years later thought, what the hell am I going to do with that part!
