you should have left the key where they were. removing them renders the ignition barrel useless and prevents the steering from being used if someone wanted to move the car!  a sad end to a mighty vehicle

I don't think anybody is moving that puppy other than the last ride to the crusher with a forklift :'(

Ignition was locked up and both keys are rusty. I don't think that car is going anywhere.

Terrible day. Steady rain and cold. Yard was a total mud pit.

Took me about 40 minutes to get the radiator out. Didn't bother trying to get the fan off because there was no way I'd get the bottom nut off without access from under the car. Fan shroud had to be sacrificed. Top hoses came off easy but the bottom fittings had to be cut. Couldn't get tools down in there with the fan in the way. Once everything was free, it pulled right up with oil cooler attached. There was fresh ATF and a bunch of oil still in it. Then I noticed the bottom. It was dented in somehow and I don't know if it is leaking or not. I don't see any holes, but until its pressure tested I won't know for sure. I'd guess this isn't leaking since everything was all bolted up.

The rest of the car is so sad. This 100% was a project that someone threw in the towel on. All the trim was piled in together. Boxes of parts all inside the car. The glass on the door was still taped off. But the car is so rusty. The rockers were all rusted to hell and the floors were all rust. I see why someone gave up, but they threw away so many good parts. I would of atleast pulled the M100. Can anyone confirm those those are replacement rockers inside the car in the one photo?

Had to pull carpets and covers to stand in the front of the car as it was all mud.

M100 in all the glory.

Shes out!

Noooooooooo

Are those replacement rockers?

Took the doors out

Loads of parts and bolts

I grabbed these metal T's from the back of the motor. Don't really need them for anything.

Nice work!  Pity about the ding but a good rad shop can repair that when they do the recore.
What the heck is that funny looking contraption left of the alternator :o?  Webasto unit?
Indeed that is a rocker panel, looks like brand new too.

I concur, new rockers, if for SEL it is valuable. $3-400 each.  and damn about that webasto, I just bought a control unit on fleabay, since the idiots in sweden havent sent me an invoice in over 4 months.  If you go back I would like the webasto control unit (the black box next to the tank - it just unplugs - and the timer clock in  the center console or glove box if they are cheap. also the white tab to the right of radiator frame where the hood latch hits if you can remove without breaking it - try pushing it up from underneath.

Thanks,
Robert

No problem Rob. The thing about the rockers is that they are nearly impossible to ship because of their size. They aren't heavy, just long. I'll head back next week for the black box. Can you highlight it for me so I know for sure.

And this is what is left of the center console. The whole car is so strange. Engine is totally untouched by everything in the interior is gone.

circled in red.

I think you should really get the rockers. you can easily make a triangle cross section box out of other large boxes, or if you sell on fleabay, take them to ups and have them package them and include in price. They are NLA and I am sure someone would buy them.  I would, but I already got some SE ones that I have to cut and re weld.

Thanks for getting those parts.  If your in the mood any original hose clamps would be nice :)

webasto clock looks like this if you see it anywhere.

What's weird is the webasto is where the battery goes.  the webasto is usually on the other inner fender.

where's the battery?

This is a good point. I didn't see battery cables anywhere. Is it possible they relocated to the trunk?

I'll grab those rockers next week. I did grab some hose clamps today. Some are Gemi while other are Forch(?). Are all the hose clamps on W116s stamped with the Mercedes logos?

One more thing. Are the back of the headlight covers NLA? You can in the one photo it's still there. I noticed it today but forgot the grab it.

This appears to have been a highly optioned car. I also see wiring for seat warmers amongst the debris inside. Man what a shame.

I see seat heater switches on the center console! I would grab those and as much of the wire harness as you can get. It ties into the small fuse box on the inner fender. It almost looks the it has a wire harness for rear seat heater switches on the B-pillars. I wonder if the pods are still attached to B-pillar coverings? If you can get that radiator skid plate off the car, I'd pull it. It even has headlight wiper motors. This car is a true treasure trove! It's for sure a Euro model.

How's the dash, if it's uncracked it's worth $$, I'd be interested.

I think it is starting to crack around the cluster. The biggest problem with the dash is that there is no glass in the car so it is getting hammered by all the elements. Some days there might be 4 inches of snow on it. Other days it might be direct sun for 7 hours.

Other things. Didn't see a skid plate when I was reaching under the car. It is just nearly impossible to get anything from other the car. The suspension is all the way down and the tires are flat so there is barely any room at all.

I'll see what I can do about the seat heater stuff. Yesterday just wasn't a good day. I was covered in mud and it was raining hard at points so I was starting to get really wet and cold. Next week maybe will be better.
