Hi Masakrer

Your recent pictures are truly inspirational.  The engine really looks good.  Do you have a few close-ups of the new paint job too.  Did the same outfit do the bodywork and the engine?

Can't wait to see the car finished!

Can you describe the plating process for all those small pieces and how you sorted them prior/during/after the procedure?

Hi

Again very sorry for delay in replying.
With regards to plating process:
I was surprised how easy it was.
Somebody recommended company called Jackson Plating in Hounslow west London.
I have removed all metal parts like injection pipes, bolts, washers etc.
Dropped of to Jackson Plating and left it there.
I was astonished with results, all came out like new ( even better) and there is the  price ,to compare with chroming, I have paid £60 for everything and that was minimum charge.

After the first good result I have remove as much as I could and dropped off again.
The only thing I would advise is to clean with wire brush or sand paper the result will be even better.

Had a go at doing my own plating because I was interested and was a bit worried about the platers losing something. Not cheaper in the short term given both the time involved and the cost of the chemicals etc but I can do bits as and when I want now. Chemicals came with all sorts of warnings about corrosiveness and toxicity. After summoning up courage finally got going with it looking like a mad laboratory with tanks of coloured liquids bubbling away.  Bit hit and miss at first but finally got it right and quite satisfied with the result although can always redo them if wanted.

Nice work!
Quick question on the bolt on top of your height control valve disk.
Does not look spec? My valve is leaking from the bolt, any tips on what you did on yours?
Cheers

Absolutely blinging. I hope that you will now being to enjoy driving it. I did a trip down to Kent today and it put a smile on my face.

I'm looking forward to the next improvement on my 6.9. Planning to buy a complete replacement leather set from GAHH to refresh the interior.

Our valve was leaking from the bolt aswell we have managed to find a little seal which goes under the bolt and that cured the leak.

I was considering new leather aswell but decided to stick to factory spec and I regret that now.

Sorry to go off on a tangent here guys!

Masakrer, thanks for this info.  I also replaced that little teflon washer, but I still have a leak.  Do you perhaps know if there is a fluid channel below that bolt?  My bolt had sealant on it when I took it out, and could not tell for sure if there is another channel underneath this bolt, in addition to the 3 main channels on top of the disk for the 3 main settings?

Cheers

I dont think there is a channel below that bolt as far as I can remember there was not one,my bolt did not have any sealent on it.
The leak might be comming from under little steel balls?

Yup, methinks that is the issue.

I will have to strip that valve completely and clean it out, seems like those channels can get plugged up with debris, causing all kinds of headaches :o

Wow you car looks amazing and it was definitely worth all that effort.  Have you driven it yet?  Why do you regret not getting leather?  Who did your timber work?  It looks fantastic!
