Welcome club, has decided to make public his car. RESTORATION continued for two years, the information here:http://www.drive2.ru/cars/mercedes/w116/w116/sergeich77/ (http://www.drive2.ru/cars/mercedes/w116/w116/sergeich77/)(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42200-1/IMG_0940.JPG)(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42195-1/IMG_0938.JPG)(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42189-1/IMG_0935.JPG)(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42168-1/DSC01389.JPG)(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42207-1/IMG_0954.JPG)
Pretty!
No idea about russian langauge, I undesrtand only it's a 1973 car, as mine 450SE.
It seems a beautiful specimen, white W116 are not so frequent to see: very good!
There use to be a saying that Mercedes can only be Black or White.
Being that white is so rare, I forgot how classy a large white Mercedes looks.
I like your "winter modification" seen on the last picture trough the grille.
Welcome, Sergei!
What I'm interested in is how does the old lady perform in the harsh Siberian weather?
Looks really great in plain white.
Hello Sergeich Great to see you here!
It was pics of your car that sprung to mind when I first saw my 280S.
Thank you ,

There are no problems with winter maintenance, as usual: antifreeze density to -40, with the correct oil viscosity, studded snow tires. The radiator in the photo is covered cardboard, because of improper operation of the thermostat. Changed for the second, but the opening is still about 70 *, and must be 87 - acquiring thermostats original production (A1102000515), maybe it's workmanship?
We use to do the cardboard in "harsh" winter to make the engine warm up faster and actually have some heat left for cabin to defrost.
Engine bay may have too much air draught for temps below -10*C hence inability to maintain 80*C and more, specially if you have cabin heating on.
The car actually stands out in snowy background... quite beautiful.

It really looks great. I didn't realise white was rare. My 450SE is white and Tony has a white 280S.
Here is mine from late last week during a quick run in the country.

What is it about show that makes a car so desirable?? Many years ago I saw a Ford Bronco ad that'd been photographed in the snow and for quite a while after that I just HAD to have one! Thankfully I'm over it now.... But both those W116s look so clean and they're a real credit to their owners
And here it is for sale:

Very good your one, too. Thank you for the picture.
Italians do not leave freedom to their color fantasy when they buy a car: most of the cars are grey (with 2 or 3 version, dark or light), alternative is black, less frequency to blue (dark) and red paint. No green, no beige/maroon, no light blue, no white... or better, it seems in the last years white cars become to increase for a fashion factor. But I never saw a white W116 in Italy...
Very nice. Welcome to this good forum. You will make many friends here. I think your car is the nicest white one in the group so far.
It is good to have someone from Siberia/USSR on this forum. Please come back many times.
Very nice dima! Welcome to the Forum ;D
Good to see that W116's can survive in your climate!
great looking car!
Yes Tony does have a 280S :-)

Anyone notice the different door frame interior trim?

Once, on my car was the same blue interior with flat door cards. Original 1973rd year, the early series with a foot of water supply on the glass, and chrome accents on the steering wheel.Today in the car beige vinyl and fabric in a cage, as to restore the original interior was impossible because of the lost parts(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42231-1/DSC01391_001.JPG),(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42236-1/DSC01392_001.JPG)
Oh she's a manual as well! Nice..... :) Looks damn cold! Brrrrrrr!! Any chance of a pic of the studs in those tyres??
Lovely interior dima. I would love a manual W116. I have a manual W115 and its great to drive :)

It's a "standard" trim, as defined by Mercedes-benz: available with cloth and MBtex, while velour and leather has only the "De luxe" trim, with the curved profile of the panels. Of course, "De luxe" could be ordered with cloth and MBtex, too.
Another difference was introduced in 1975: leather combination was both seating and panels before that year, changing to the seating only from 1976 on.

That's a fine combination, dima: white paint with beige internal trim. Also, it's a very good trim & seating status: beige is easy to get dirty, but your one is almost like new!
Dima,
That interior is very good. I can only imagine how you feel as you shift into high gear on one of your Siberian adventures. What is the longest trip you have taken with the car?
On this car so far only a small trip with the family on a day not more than 100 km. For everyday there is another car
On holidays on the Gold Coast at the moment and on Friday night with the Broadbeach Market going there were lots of cars cruising about. I saw a white W116 stretch limo with W126 wheels, but only saw it once and didn't have a camera handy.... damn!
It is interesting to look at the limo, I hope next time will be more successful
Sunday walk and add photos restored interior (http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42263-1/DSC01430.JPG),(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42269-1/DSC01435.JPG),(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42275-1/DSC01436.JPG),(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42281-1/DSC01438.JPG),(http://gallery.w116.org/dl/42287-1/DSC01440.JPG)
Why apologize I don't speak Russian - car looks great.
Yesterday Jetronik adjusted valve clearance and the way the video turned out much noisy engine, but in fact it is "whistling", just as the camera takes a small sound. In fact, the motor was three times quieter, I began to feel like a full participant in the movement (today Berd Highway 120 for me was the 200th Cruiser, after when traffic is "sickening" these guys looked at my machine with a slight bewilderment) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sHHkf2VmVnw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sHHkf2VmVnw)
Sounds very good. Interesting engine blanket - you don't worry about it melting or catching fire? What is the morning temperature this time of year where you are?
Thank you! Under the hood of the special car covers, it does not burn. Does not cool down the engine during short trips and very effective as insulation. In the morning differently is, on average - 20 degrees, and sometimes up to - 40 ° C The car is in the garage, so no problems running
The first photo and the third photo on the very first post of dima is like MB advertisement. Never thought a white 116 would look so nice in snow. Congratulations and have fun using it.
Hello! Very good!
Привет Россия)
Welcome!!! It'd be great if you could start a new thread on your car with some pix!
Welcome from South Africa!!
Your car is beauts!
