Sounds like you have everything you need to enjoy your car Chris and you are spot on mate, it never ends.

Wait till you get your 2nd Benz, and number 3 is the charm mate.

Make one of em a D jet 450 for when you are off your P plates............. (Theres a cheapy in Gormandale on eBay)

zook

haha maybe a 450 can be the third one?? if i get the summer job i want i may well try and get a 114 coupe and stick a 300TD engine in - perfect for Ps haha

paid $220 for a sound front member from the wreckers..lucky i sold my impreza parts yesterday!! im told it should be ready by the end of the week

also met someone from the forum in person, for the first time- satisfying sale of some badges to Mr Kozzy :) which was nice, cant wait til theres a proper meet

What does the crossmember look like now Zook?  Pics as you repair it please, as I have to do the same damn thing.  I can't believe people would do just a partial repair after a collision and leave a critical part like that bent outta shape.  It means it's very difficult to get anything to line up.   >:(

Yes I'm looking forward to a Melbourne meet in the coming months too.....

What a shit weekend >:(

missed out by half an hour to bring the new front bar home, then was coerced by the needy gf into staying at hers friday night..which turned into watching Hawthorne lose, and getting home in darkness..

worked fruitlessly from about 8-2 on sunday..re-did the thread on the shocker, and the nuts...looked nice, but no change  >:( need to get some smaller nuts or something. got about 5 steps into taking out the gearbox, time was mostly spent gazing in horror at the rust in the RHF corner, near the jack point. it took a hit somehow, lower part of the inside wheel arch is slightly buckled, jack point is buggered, rot peering out from the edges near the corner..i shouldnt be surprised, the interior is pretty effin damp there. caught myself longing for a reliable little subaru that i could just stick an obnoxious exhaust on and be done...and how much my benz would be worth with and without the manual 'box and AMG bits. not good thoughts to be having at this stage!!

so yeah, got up to unclipping the linkages to the gear lever, figured out why its loose, the bearings are literally none existant!! they need to be replaced with the parts they are housed in, yes?

gave up around 2, needy gf wanted her car back  :P i didnt really mind, as i was not feeling it at all!

today has been a bit better, picked up the bar, which gave me a smile

so thaaaaaaaats what its sposed to look like!

..dem curves!!  ;)

hopefully it wont be too difficult to chuck that on..despite the fact i've found that the whole bar needs to come off mine, not just the crumpled centre section

thats all for now, aiming to spend all of next weekend on le benz....counting down to the 21st of november, my last exam for the year!

Cheers

If you're relying on the GF for transport then that'll wear thin!  Get a cheapie hatch, ute or wagon if necessary.  Something to transport parts if need be.  A tow car would be good, but more $$ and more $$ to run.

Push though the frustration; I think it's something we all go through when fixing up an old car (or worse if there's many)!  I think I've had the blues last winter, but the sun's starting to break through now!  It's like a diet, giving up the smokes, drink or going to the gym; past this stage and it gets easier...  (BS) cough, cough!!   ;) ;D
