God I'm about to open a crowdfunding campaign for you.  I can actually feel the sensation of you ordering that $900 clutch.  Man, if I was only another 10,000 miles closer to you, I swear I'd start to send you money just to drive your car once.

It is not often I wished I were rich, but this is one of those times.  You've been through heck with this car and I sure hope you see it through.  All I can do is keep posting the most encouraging pictures I can find  :)

Zook,
if you know the part numbers, why not use one of the guys form the Americas.  we always use the classic centre USA, whilst i know a lot of guys use Joe from Brazil.  not that I've had too much to do with eastern state parts suppliers, but my limited experience with the guys in Canberra is that even an email for 2 lines of advice is too much effort if they don't make a dollar. so, they have not seen a dollar of mine!  the classic centre ships to your door generally half the price of what MB Australia would quote or provide.
good luck with it all

thanks! would 'part numbers' refer to the MB part numbers? coz i only ever had the manufacturor part numbers...but i will strongly consider that if ever i need more parts! (god forbid!!)

in other news...the car is back together. all it needs is to charge the battery. very sceptical on the outcome...i feel, if it moves, it will be nothing short of a miracle. if it doesnt...well lets just say im well fed up with wriggling around in the dirt underneath it. i've very seriously contemplated how much a part-out would get me in regards to the 4 spd gear and the value of a complete AMG bodykit..post up your offers lol its probably the most likely outcome

My fingers and toes are so crossed for you - and I have had a very lucky day so far.  So good luck to you my friend, and keep us posted!  Tasty pics of the car in current condition would be exceptional too btw  :)

Oh don't worry about the current condition - that's just 'barn fresh', like a virgin in a Prom Dress.

Some people consider such relics to be both high art and the highest expression of automobile collecting, I suppose it is not unlike the famous sculpture of one of the world's greatest fashion models in her old age (I wish I could remember the artist).

You can actually look at decay as great beauty - check this Bugatti:

Zook's car is running.  All hail the Gods of Holy Acceleration.

Gosh this is just great news.  Do not forget to post (moving?) some pics of the current state of your beast.

I sense we have an artist in the mix.

You both tantalize us by not showing the entire car in its virgin condition, and amaze by finding the one spot, the one tiny moment where your car is the absolute equal of a 100K restoration at the Mercedes centre.

You have my full attention.  Sounds great - here in the USA all you'd have to do is put a slip of paper where the plate goes with "lost tag" written on it and you could drive it home.
