116 race car

Nutz, I once saw on ebay a 450SEL that had been grafted to a Toyota Land cruiser chassis, not quite like yours, they look more like flexible mud runners/hill climbers, but actually looked rather impressive.

I thought the same thing as you Des.  I remember a 280 from memory, for sale on ebay that was on a Toyota chassis (I thought it was a hilux chassis).  Anyway, it was for sale in Queensland Aus for around $10k AUD.  MBSpares had it linked to a newsletter but now of course, the link is too old and I never took a copy before the listing vanished.  That's the one Nutz, you legend.

The obvious has to be asked though.  Imagine a stripped and lightened 6.9 rally car.  Rather a 6.9 m100 in a 116 chassis might be easier.

That's what I was hoping someone would have some pictures of, AMG got early 450HP out of a 6.3, so just think of a 6.9 with the interior gutted out, big wheels flares, wide wheels etc. would be a pretty serious machine. Something like that blue 6.9 Michel sold would be a perfect candidate,


did AMG build any 6.9 race cars?

I have their history book but has no mention of such things, actually 6.9 coverage is quite poor, only a few sentences.
