116 in film

Just seen a way over the top Italian horror "Phenomena" by Dario Argento (1986). No comment on the film but it did have Jennifer Connelly riding about in a Green W116 (same colour as mine) about 10 minutes in. Not a very long sequence but included some interior shots.

Last night watched an American movie called ARGO it was about the Iranian hostage crisis during the Iranian revolution in the early 1980's
where 7 American embassy workers took refuge in the Canadian Embassy and eventually escaped.

The Canadian Ambassador got driven around in a Very nice Black 280SE  a w116 of course.

I think I would like a black one now!

just watched the tv series deutschland 83 and there is a w116 used in episode 2 or 3, the character drives a w123 and all the interior shots are  from a w123 and most of the exterior except for a few continuity mistakes where its a w116.

there is a shot looking out from a w123 and the external shot is the w116.

looking forward to watching carlos a three part film and i am sure it will be full of great 70's cars

yeah, there's been talk and photos about this one before, 2 yrs or so ago, on this forum. The actual bombed car is either in the museum as a bombed car, or a restored one, can't remember., but the car is still there.

In the meantime,, there's a rare W116 in this new flick
The Mafia Kills Only in Summer (2013). Great movie, btw, very original, about a young boy trying to become a journalist in the 80's in Sicilia, when he Casa Nostra was popping politicians and judges like balloons.
President Andreotti gets a state burial in a W116 hearse. Quite rare stock footage of that parade  in the movie for I could not find a pic or video from that funeral car anywhere on the net, for it only drove the body for a short distance, and the coffin was hand-carried most of the way. . Now think of it.. somewhere in a dusty garage in Italy, there may be a pristine, forgotten, unwanted W116 hearse that once carried the legendary Andreotti to his grave..
