Lot 28, 6 June 2005. A silver 6.9 with appropriate number plates fronts the Shannon's auction. Please, please tell me this didn't sell for a tenner. Does anyone know the story of this car?
(Not that I'm harbouring 6.9 fantasies, please understand...)
What I was doing buggerising around with historical data is another story. For later...
Oh alright, I was looking for the values of Rolls Royce Camargues along the ages. Mrs Scotty dismisses them
as too Lady Penelope, but I ignore her free judgement for what it is.
Anyway, can anyone shed any light on what became of this car?
Scotty

The plot thickens:
The SA plates are currently registered:
Plate Type ALPHANUMERIC
Plate Number SEL069
Make MERCEDES BENZ
Body Type SEDAN
Primary Colour BLUE
Expiry Date 09/01/2015
But, they are now fitted to this fairly knackered blue 6.9 that happens to be for sale: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-barker/cars-vans-utes/1979-mercedes-benz-450-sedan/1058348956 (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-barker/cars-vans-utes/1979-mercedes-benz-450-sedan/1058348956)
A googling of the plate also turns up an archived thread on the topklasse forum where our very own dot org member Bandolero mentions that he's seen the plates before, fitted to a red 6.9 owned by a lady whose name he cannot recall: http://www.topklasse.net.au/forums/archive/index.php?t-4946.html (http://www.topklasse.net.au/forums/archive/index.php?t-4946.html)
Yes, sorry for the lack of reference point. Some 6.9s seem to do the rounds a bit, don't they? My astonishment was the sold price but I'd like to think it's not right.
