Aaron, any idea what happened to the m-100 cc site? Their forum went down, and I can no longer find any traces of the site after searching for it for a few minutes.

Several things happened.  The founders have all died or become too old to care or stay involved, the mixing of old blood and new blood on the board was disastrous, they tried to run the site like a corporation, (fees, asinine rules and regulations, micro managing), they expected the website maintenance people to be at their beckon call for free, the majority of the members haven't ever touched a car....much less looked under their own bonnets, yet they knew everything, and if you corrected their inaccuracies they reported you to the board, at which point you'd be severely scorned, the yearly M-100 meets were always at places that most of us couldn't even dreams of affording to stay at or even make the time to drive/fly to.  It essentially became too "cliquey", and it folded due to non interest and condescending traits.  Myself and many others (some even on this forum) tried to help, but they just wouldn't listen, and they never really accepted the W116 and an thoroughbred M-100 car.  It's probably a good thing that they've folded.  Though, I do miss conversing with the people on my leather restoration thread.  Before they changed everything that post had thousands of views, so you know people enjoyed it or appreciated it being there.  Oh well.  It's out of my hands.

I saw a post on different forum from long time member. He said when they switched to new forum host they didnt realize that only paid members could see posts. It took them months to figure that out and the damage was already so severe they could not recover. They probably did not have enough paying members to afford it.

yes, after changing to the different forum only paying members got access.
So I became a member more than a year ago which lead to a new forum nick so I lost
the connection to all my posts.
As a paying member it took me months to get back my forum nick but the connection
to my old posts is still lost. After some more moths of trying I gave up and did not renew
my membership.
In all the time I never got in contact with someone who seems to be able to administrate
the forum.
I am not quite sure about exact numbers, but from memories there were 2-3 posts a month.
So nothing to miss for the future, but the knowledge that was hidden in the old forum is probably lost.

regards,
Thomas

Yes my views on the m100 board/club are well known I'm sure.  They definitely saw the 6.9 than "less than", and now here we are, a dead forum with no interest.  I even floated the idea of an affiliation with the org, but of course that went over like a lead balloon.  They were hell bent on having an exlusive club feel to the whole thing, and that kind of approach simply does not work in the modern era.  If you want longevity you need to stay relevant and have inclusivity, 2 things that were severly lacking on the M100 board and now they are history.  Sad but true ::)

Yes Thomas, I think the biggest loss is the knowledge base in the old posts.  There was a wealth of information in there...hopefully not lost for ever...

In the meantime I sense that something may give, in regards to this forum. I sure hope not, but all the pics are already gone. I am starting to do copies/backups of pages already.  :-\

The M-100 site isn't entirely gone:  https://m100forums.clubexpress.com/  For some reason I decided to pay up - maybe in hopes of future improvements? - and I have access.  There were even a couple posts back in June.

I've messaged the "admin" user again, but haven't heard anything back yet. Whoever runs the site has always been very stealth.
It would be a pity if the Org ended this way.

I emailed Zuver which is the website provider to forward an email to the owner. Waiting to hear back.

Sorry all for the mess but hopefully it is fixed now.

I assure everyone that neither I nor this forum are going anywhere.

The issue was that the website host changed a setting without notifying me. I also didn't see your messages and emails notifying me of the issue until now.

Thanks for your patience.

I'm happy the issues have been resolved.....but who is/are the administrators?  Why is it such a secret?!
