Title: Would this diff work in a 280?

Thinking about the 280se "AMG" that I picked up, I thought this would be cool. I figure with the high gear ratio anyway this would simply make the car an LSD.

it would work in there.

I'd love to have that for my 6.9, it would make it into a bullet.

Too bad I missed the auction.  :(

MT wouldn't all 6.9 have this? What is the typical ratio?

Factory 6.9 diff ratio is 2.65:1 and they have an LSD as standard.

That diff would turn any 6.9 into a rocket but lower its top speed, not that its really much of an issue.

That diff would fit in a 280SE, but I dont think it would be a good idea.  Standard ratio in a 280SE auto is 3.69.  Any ratio lower than that is going to lower the revs and labour the engine.  The 280 motor doesn't exactly have power to spare when shifting a 1650kg W116 around.

That would be farking unreal in a 6.9.  The 3.07:1 LSD is off tap (top speed lowered to about 210kph).

But this would lower it under 200 but it'd get there so damn quick.  Upset I missed this, seems like a great buy for whoever collected it.
