Wiring Euro headlights...

..forgive me if this has been covered before, although I couldn't find a link here or anywhere else specific to the W116.  I have had no issue wiring  Euros into W126 cars,  so this one has me scratching my head a bit.

1/  I pulled the stock NA fogs and rerouted the wiring into the headlight socket.

2/  Un-popped the 4-pin plug,  soldered the fog ground into the two existing grounds.   That went into #2.

3/  The fog light power wire went into #6.

4/  The two remaining wires went into #4 and #5.

5/  Trial and error has left me with fog lights on in the park light position,  high and low beams work fine - fogs stay on no matter what.

Your thoughts welcomed....oh, and I could use another rear door for the pass. side (right) light - the black oval deal....

Also - have a set of ok-condition Euros at a very reasonable price to members on this forum...

Thanks all - back to the shed, Chris.

Not much help from me, but I am interested to find out a solution too, as my 77 came with Euro lights but the dummies wired the high beam to the fog light bulb in the headlight...  :-[
The separate fog lights under the bumper are still there and fully operational.
They used butt crimp connectors to hook up to the male pins of the headlight plugs.

Unbelievable, but should look and function good when I'm done.

Also - before dismantling the DOT lamps, pull one screw out ( there's 6 holding the light assembly on) and go find a dozen or so of the same thing, just 5mm longer.    It'll save you some time and grief :)

IF anyone has to have a set of DOT lamps, come see me.

An update: something is clearly goofy with what I've wired, since I've now lost the front marker/signal lights...I'll post a schematic of the 6-pin connector as this is shortly...nuts,  it was all going so well.  Not the first time I've tuned something to a standstill...

All sorted now, thanks in no small part to the wiring diagram in the service manual found here...still have to swap out the side marker sockets so I can run the dual filament bulbs...and aim the headlights correctly.   Wouldn't mind yellow reflectors for the fogs or yellow H3 bulbs...

Got a Euro wiring diagram if its any help it is in German though. I was trying to rewire part and getting no where as only had the US diagram. The wiring is different why I don't know but the German one sorted it out.

I'll post a pic of the wiring diagram I used over the weekend...I'll have to swap in the US marker light sockets if I want the markers to work, they use dual filament bulbs...from memory,  I used #2 for the ground, #4 for the fogs,  #1 for the high beam,  #3 for the low/signal....
