Wipers not parking

Hi everyone! I've tried searching and can't find a post related to this.

My wipers have suddenly stopped returning to park position. They work, intermittent even works, but when I turn off the switch they stop immediately and in the middle of the windshield.

Can someone explain how the motor is supposed to know when to stop? Do I need a new motor or can this be repaired?

Thank you!

Jim

See attached wiper diagram.  The park switch contact is internal to the motor mechanism unless MB is different from every other car out there.  Here's a good, generic explanation of how wiper motors work:

With a voltmeter you should be able to puzzle it out.  I suspect you're looking at a new motor.  Good luck!
