can i drop a 300d motor into a 280s without changing engine mounts

The Warden

Never actually tried it, but I've been told that all "recent" M-B engines, gas or diesel, share the same engine mounting points and transmission bellhousing patterns. The mount itself may be different, but the point on the subframe that the mount bolts on to should be the same.

So, other than dealing with the fuel system (needing to put in a return line, etc.), it should be pretty straightforward.

Again, this is just what I have been told...no direct experience.

Good luck!!
