Who here uses Bendix Ultimate brake pads on their car?

I use factory pads, whatever OEM brand they are.

They don't squeal  or squeak, which seems to be very common on other cars and brake pads.

Suppose I should clarify myself.

I need to know if there is significant fading after repeated hard stops from well over the speed limit.

For racing purposes you would need a harder pad than OEM.

OEM pads for 116's were very soft and designed to allow the car to be braked if the booster failed (There was an obscure US law about this in the 60's or 70's).

Subsequently the pads were a compromise and the discs themselves lasted a lot longer.

My 6.9 has hard pads which means there is little dust and they work well enough on the road at speed but are not very responsive when manouvering slowly or driving in traffic. I don't know what brand they are - maybe AMG69 could help out if he knows.

My 450 has OEM pads and they are nice at low speed but can be very fierce at speed and will lock up the front wheels too easily in my usual "see the Kangaroo - crash stop" situation. They have never faded even when worked hard in the hills and probably do not have a long life but I think they were only $95 a set from the main agents.

Thanks Bill.  I've been looking at what is available brake pad wise and was only turning up road style pads.  Bendix, for example makes a standard, heavy duty, and super heavy duty in a DB143 and a standard and heavy duty in a DB2.  But really these are just advanced road pads.

Cam has found this during hillclimbs that the front wheels lock very easily and I bet I will find the same thing is I try to use road pads.

I've since found that QFM make a ferro-organic competition pad which will fit our cars - its not cheap, but I think its a better starting point.
