Hi all, as some of you may know, we're in the process of getting the old 280SE back on the road... supposed to be ready for my wedding day which is next Friday but the car is having some problems. The garage say is runs a but rough when it's warm and also found this sensor (crank positions sensor) is not plugged in and they don't know where it needs to be plugged in. Can anyone help?

I gather this is the other end of the sensor according to the garage

Alec300SD

On my 1978 W116 300SD, the connector plugs into the bottom of the black diagnostic port located on the DS wheel well bracket.
The tachometer amplifier plugs into the diagnostic port.

The diagnostic port is held to the bracket with two Philips sheet metal screws.

That could very well be as they had to remove that for some work they did on the inner wings. Thanks so much for the quick reply... hopefully that's it.

I've got the garage to take loads of photos of the restoration so will post those on here soon, once it's all done. Just hope it's ready for my wedding day as it would mean very much to me!

THe infor about the location of that plug is correct, but sorry to disappoint you, it is purely a diagnostics/monitoring point, and will not have any influence on how the car runs.

Thanks. Yeah I thought it may not be the source of the problem.
I wonder if something line a temp sensor might cause the warm running problems? Apparently it's ok when it's cold and then sort of starts to misfire.
