Title: What is this part ?
Post by: Big Tiny on 04 August 2020, 05:44 AM
Can anyone enlighten me on this part attached to the throttle body ?

Currently completing a complete car overhaul and tidy up.

EGR delete, and wasn't sure what the function of this part was ?

That doesn't look like any part I've ever seen on a W116. ......unless you have a California version of a W116 diesel.  If so, it's probably related to the EGR system.  If you want to be certain then follow the vacuum lines that go to and from this part.  If one of them connects to EGR then you have your answer.

Hi its W126, Yeah I think its EGR system related. Reason I don't know where it goes is because engine is spread around my workshop at the monent : ) putting things back in next few days, want as much nonsense like this gone.

Just bumping this thread as I can see the pictures are now visible.

Is there any chance this has to do with the AC compensation idle speed up.

I don't don't seem to have that function after putting engine back together. Not a big deal, still have the parts if and when I decide not to bother putting it on : )

If anyone can enlighten me on how exactly the idle up feature works, I'm assuming turn AC on, 12 volt trigger to switch over valve ? what happens then ? what causes idle to increase ?
