After a 600 km drive today in my 6.9 i have a wet floor on the left side front. Air con was on all day and I have checked that the drain out under the car was clear. Any ideas how the moisture got there?

Was it raining?
check the sunroof, it might be the sunroof seals that are letting water into the car.

No rain unfortunately out here but thanks for the replies. where are these other grommets?

Because they are only a crappy G-M Compressor they are the same as used in many Aussie cars, Jaguars etc and are readily available at about $600 +GST (It will almost certainly be snafu) but you will probably need to check and possibly replace/repair Hoses and decide whether evaporator and expansion valve (behind instruments and easily accessible with instruments removed) are up to the job especially as you will probably be changing Gas to H134a now that F12 is unavailable.

There are a number of other issues which require a good A/C Specialist.

I used Lyon's Airconditioning in Perth and they took about three days and $1600 - 2 years ago, to rebuild my system into one that will let me drive around on a 40 degree Celcius day. New Compressor, Receiver-Dryer, most Hoses replaced with hoses built by them on site, New electric Fan, New Service Valves (For H134A), and regas and leak test.

They recommended a bigger condensor and a new expansion valve but I thought I'd spent enough.

Cooling a bit limited with prolonged idling (Needs a bigger condensor) and takes a while to pump up when first started but fine on normal running. Has been trouble and maintenance free for 2 years and makes the car a usable Western Australia car in all weathers.

Maybe thats why they changed the hoses as the fittings were different on the end plate - works well anyway.

As you say the internals are the same. They didn't even want to look at rebuilding the existing compressor due to it's age and condition  and I was happier with a brand new unit as well - especially as the price was not crippling.

Oh bugger - here is another highjacker....my compressor unit is a Behr. Were a number of alternatives used?

Hummmmm - well it has a Behr label but maybe the label came from elsewhere? I will investigate!!!

A friend of mine had the same problem with his 1992 W124. It turned out to be a perished foam tube. Yes, the drain pipe is a crappy plastic coated tube which must cost all of 1 cent! I replaced it with an old small bore radiator pipe which I had left over. No chance of that perishing!
