Sorting through some parts today I came across 4 ball joints with the part number

116 320 13 28

Am  I right in thinking that these are 6.9 ball joints that go on the bottom of the struts?

If so do front and rear struts use the same ball joints or do these only fit front or rear and if so which?

no, these are "only" rear ball joints for w116/w123/w114/w115/w126 with
self leveling springs at the rear axle.

If you are searching for new front ball joints for the 6.9: I do have them for sale (but no rear 6.9 ones).

Thanks for the info. No I don't need any as I no longer have a 6.9. I was just wanting to confirm what they are as I'll probably be putting them up for sale as they are no longer needed.
