Guys I have a 1980 W116 parts car. I need to remove the Antenna mast to use it on another car. Do you guys know how to remove the antenna mast?

Can I unscrew the mast from outside of the car or do I also need to remove the motor from the inside?

If it's a standard Hirschmann style antenna then it's unscrewed from the top. You may need to hold the bolt part in place by hand or with a spanner underneath. Then unscrew from its mounting inside the boot and remove. Should be easy.

If it's a Hirschmann Auta, you will need to remove the entire antenna and disassemble the thing completely to remove the mast assembly.

There will be a small screw holding the mast assembly at the top of the body, and the drive belt is coiled on a spool inside the body.

The antenna itself is removed as Adam described above.

Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Actually, of you're not rebuilding it, you could  probably just unlock the top screw which holds the assembly to the body, and then apply voltage to drive the antenna forward and just pull the mast out this way.

IMO, the other way is easier, but messier.
