Hello All,
I was just replacing my valve cover gaskets and was wondering what the proper torque is for the 4 bolts or does it matter? I can't find anything in my Haynes manual or the online manual.

BTW on the link to the online manual it asks us to download it to save on hosting costs, how do I do that?

Thanks,
Scott

The torque spec for the rocker cover bolts on the M116/M117 engines is less than 10Nm, possibly half that. They are not supposed to be tight at all, just enough to compress the rubber gaskets slightly. If they are done up too tightly, then the cover will bow out, warp and possibly leak.

To save the PDFs, you will have to open the relevant document first and then click "save to disk" icon in Adobe Reader and so on.

The manual say 5nm.

I use a 1/4 inch torque wrench and start from the centre and work outwards from side to side like tightening a cylinder head.
