Eh.. what's this? It's in the trunk of a 1974 450 SEL..

That is a vacuum tank for door locks and such.

There's also another one, more bottle shaped, behind the driver side front fender.
That one stores vacuum for the HVAC system actuators (including cars that have no AC).
