This is how much coolant a 6.9 requires.

One of my Xmas jobs was to change the Green non-oem coolant in my 6.9 to the latest M-B blue coolant.

Chris had fitted a new water pump and had the radiator rodded about 6 months ago but I was unhappy with the use of unknown "Green" coolant.

I waited until I was happy that it did not consume any coolant at all and ran at respectable temperatures - then drained and flushed a few times with distilled water (I use bore water and didn't want any in my coolant) then poured in 50% of the specified amount in M-B coolant and topped up with distilled water with the heater valve open.



Here is a picture showing the empty containers to illustrate the total quantity (or close to it). The M-B coolant retails for $23 per 1.5 litres ($20 with discount) and is diluted 50% with the distilled water that costs $2 for 4 litres (From a supermarket but $10 for 10 litres from an automotive shop)

Around $130 but I think from memory you only need about 1/2 of one of the last container.
