Well fellows the bottom support for my gas petal broke today. It's the part that holds the clip. Any suggestions?

It's spot welded to the floor at factory, and the most common cause for it breaking off is rusted floor pan in that area. Before you do anything, check if there's anything healthy steel there to attach a replacement.

You can either weld or rivet it to the floor. I wouldn't recommend screws as they may come loose.

Thanks! The funny thing about this situation is there's no visible rust on the floor. 37 years and my foot attached to 257lbs might be the culprit. :) I think I'll use rivets and a little miracle paint this weekend.

I welded mine back, wasn't too keen on drilling holes in the floor.

Did you have any issues wielding it back? The reason why I'm thinking of using rivets is because of the angle. I am going to use miracle paint regardless. I patched a small area about 3 or 4 years ago with miracle paint and Fiberglas and it's solid.

I had no issues welding, there was not much rust, it actually broke off on the factory weld. Still plenty of metal to work with.

I think I may have to wield it. Squiggle Dog I just found out there's only three w116 pedal mounts left in the Americas. I was told there will be no more manufactored. I ordered one from the local dealer Friday. Hopefully I'll get one. Thanks for the advice guys

I'm needing one as well so I'll start looking on Monday. I have a few parts cars that I could probably salvage one from, otherwise, it would be pretty simple to fabricate one. In fact, if you do end up receiving one, it would be great if you could post the dimensions of it so I could make some accurate ones on a waterjet.

If I get the pedal mounting support from Mercedes, I will post the dimensions. I think making one would be fairly easy. Thanks for the idea, it will help our fellow W116 lovers down the road.

I received one of the last W116 gas pedal support mounts from Mercedes Benz yesterday! These are the measurements. The mount is at a 95 degree angle, 2" length, 1 1/2" width, with an opening of 11/16" X 1/4" for pedal clip. You can drill a hold dead center or weld it. I hope this helps. Thanks guys.

What is the thickness of it and the distance from the top to the top of the hole?

I never had a gas pedal. They are highly over-rated.

Haha! Sounds a bit like me and being cursed with never having working door locks or parking brakes.

What a good sense of humour: let me guess, you've got a diesel pedal!
