Right Side Low Beam Issue

Thanks Raptelan for the PDF! It is a great help!

I went and checked the fuse for the RH low beam and it seems to be OK.

I noticed on the PDF that slot 13 is RH low bean and fog lights. The foglights have always worked since I have had it, but the low beam has never worked. I swapped bulbs with the one on the left and the bulb is fine. I blew-out the fuse because it was kinda dirty, but other than that everything else looked fine. It doesn't appear that any of the fuses are blown in the box.

Any other suggestions? Maybe take the air compressor and blow-out the plug-in for the light? Maybe there is crap in there?

I am thinking I am going to go move it into a building for one to play with it, lol. It's supposed to get to 96 today and it's already warm out. Maybe while I am in there I will try and fiddle with the turn signal lights on that side as well.

Thanks,

Couldn't figure out what was up with it. I jumped it over from the drivers side and it seems to be working fine now.

Maybe the connection on the low beam side was just corroded. I spent today trying to get my reverse lights working. It turned out to be a bad neutral safety switch on the transmission! Good thing I kept the one from the original transmission.

Yeah, I am having an issue still with the right turn signal too. I at least got the parking lights to work on that side now too. Kinda weird that it seemed like the whole right side of the cars lights had issues.

Oh, I was having an issue with the right side turn signal blinking too quickly, even though both bulbs worked. It turned out to be because a 10 watt bulb was placed where a 21 watt bulb should have been.

The rear turn signal light, the socket is kinda broken that the bulb goes into. It's a really tiny bulb. I taped it up and the light comes on, but doesn't blink. I have had it blinking before. Albeit fast blinking. They want something like $80 for a new rear taillight housing.

When I took the parking light out of the front, I had to shove the back back into the casing, which made the light come on. I still can't get the turn signal to blink. The filaments in both bulbs are intact, so I don't really understand why they won't blink. SO at the moment, I am doing the old school, fiddle the signal up and down when I want to make a right turn. Luckily, since we live in the boonies, I don't really use turn signals all that much, lol.

I'd get a multimeter or something else creative and test the wires for continuity...

The turn signal bulb in the rear should be a large 21 watt bulb. The small one on the very end is the marker light bulb (only North American cars have these). You can take pliers and close the ends of the bulb holder slightly so that it grips the bulb tighter and gives it a better ground. It also may be necessary to pull up on the tang a little.

The front turn signal bulb usually won't work if the plastic part of the connector isn't shoved in and crimped to the metal holder. There needs to be tension on the spring to push the contacts up to the bulb. If you can force the plastic part back in (with the bulb out, maybe use channel lock pliers), try to take a punch on the corners and indent the end of the metal housing around the plastic to hold it in.

If the bulb comes on but doesn't blink, it's probably because the flasher relay needs to be replaced.

Is there a flasher relay for each side?

I think that one flasher relay does all four corners. So, if the relay was bad, it would most likely cause all four of the turn signals to flash incorrectly. If only one side isn't functioning, then it is probably something with the bulbs/connections/wiring/grounds.

I agree, I think it has too small of a bulb in the passenger side in the back.

we are coming over to your side of the state for a wedding in Lacey, so we'll be gone for a few days. I'll have to check it out when we get home.

Thanks,
