Replacing leaking fuel hoses to injectors

I now have a fuel leak from the engine end of my 1974 280se, I believe it is from the rubber hoses connected to the injectors, and a repair kit is available. Im handy, but no mechanic, but I am going to try to replace them myself as the car cant really be driven to a garage as it is.
Has anyone attempted this, and what advice can you share. Or even better are there videos out there that I can see, as I am finding the look of all the hoses and leads a bit daunting!!

cheers Howard

Not difficult except getting the old ones off. Do not attempt to cut them off as any scoring of the Injector body will cause a leak. The manual says fit the new hoses by lubricating them with petrol.

D-jet engine fuel leaks due to perished or damaged hoses have lead to a few fires. Ensure that you use the correct clamps.

Good tip marku, and duly noted adamb.

I will keep you posted, though more likely I will be asking frantic questions??!

Hi Howard

If you haven't already searched you-tube, here are some videos that may help:

Hope these help, two very different methods. VW and Porche guys may have some valuable input too, as Bosch D-Jetronic was commonly used in VW and Porche products from the late 60s / early 70s too.

Good luck

Gavin

Good videos explaining it all.

My pics show what you will be looking for once you dismantle all the gear around them,. and while your at it, there are other fuel lines around the injectors you should consider changing also.

Just a thought.  I used the same opportunity to change my injector seals, seeing as I had taken  the fuel lines off.

And while you're at it.......

This is what I found once I started tracing "ALL" the fuel lines from the injectors back to the tank.

It was November 2012 and it started with a leaking injector hose just like yours Howard.  Couldn't work out where the petrol smell was coming from at the time.

Observe the stamped dates on the original factory fitted fuel lines.

I was also thinking that, so I am having the injectors checked and re-balanced, along with changing the all the engine rubber fuel hoses.
I think the ones at the tank end got changed when I had work done on it last year.
But this work I am doing myself, and am making progress, I also have a shiny fuel rail and repainted air filter housing. So if it looks good its bound to run good (bad english). I might post pictures when Im done and its working!
