Title: replacement coolant hose the easy way?
Post by: BCK1963 on 12 April 2021, 01:45 PM
My upper coolant hose from the thermostat housing to the engine top leaks a bit when the engine is cold. Not much but too much to not worry
Anyone have an idea or experience how much coolant would rinse out if I remove the thermostat housing without prior coolant drainage?
I also think of sucking out as much fluid as possible through the thermostat thread with a vac pump and a hose and catch the residual with a cloth.

    thanks ahead

At some point I did exactly what you have in mind.  I figured it couldn't be all that much coolant.  After all, the thremostat is pretty high up.  It turned out to be a lot more than I anticipated.  Put a big tray underneath the car and be prepared for more of a mess than you'd expect.  Good luck and cheers,
