Replaced the idler arm bushing

Hi everyone,

I replaced the idler arm bushing on my 6.9 a while ago and did not see a spacer washer between the dust cap and arm.  I see in the manual it says to note the spacer "if fitted".

Just curious if other 6.9 owners have a spacer present?

The washer is fitted as an adjustment only when needed.  You will see elsewhere in the manual there should be a section showing the measurements to the lower control arm if my memory serves me.  The washer is used to bring it back to spec if needed but if yours did not have it to begin with then just replace "as found" basically.
More importantly you need to ensure that the bolt is replaced right side up as a safety measure so it cannot drop out if somehow the nut works loose.  On the 6.9 you need to yank the starter to have clearance as far as I remember.
Look at section 40.2-320 in the service manual and you will see the reference to adding a washer if needed.
