I strongly doubt it, as it would cost the govt. extra money

It won't cost the government extra money, it will cost you and me extra money.

Yes, that was oversimplified somewhat. Taxpayers indeed.

Regarding the Euro 280, it's possible that certain things may happen after rego if you know what I mean. ;)

I can offer some help and advice of getting the 280 registered as I almost have my 6.9 registered.

The 6.9 is based near York (country) and has just passed a roadworthy inspection where they are more realistic with old cars (but still thorough). It just needed 2 items fixing, one of which was just a parking light bulb. I'll post some pics when its finally registered with appropriate plates.

You just need a country garage address and fortunately I have some shed space in the country for TJ's 280. For $21 you can get a temporary permit to drive the car to a place of repair or inspection.

Hi John,

That sounds like pretty good going with the 6.9. These guys down here are ruthless, it would seem. Particularly regarding oil leaks which are going to be present somewhere 99% of the time, in the worst possible locations of course.

I just sent you a PM regarding the rego alternative.
