Can anyone say where I can get rubber seals for this 350 fuel pump, also where can I but the air cleaner rubber?

I think you can contact Bosch Classic and buy the seals, but they may require you to buy them through an authorized retailer.  Not sure.  Also, this was a common pump, so you may have good luck finding good used ones or ones that have been rebuilt.

that parts website does not allow you to look up vehicles older than 1984.  Is there some work around to look up older parts?

thanks

Jed, It would be useful if you put your location in your profile. also you can put your car model in your signature so we dont have to guess what model you are asking about each time.

EPC will show you every part for your car.  Free in North America, I think a small fee in other areas, but not available in europe?

EPC is available in Europe and North America to anyone, and may be available in other regions via clubs.

As for the fuel pump, the following might be good replacements:

- Pierburg 7.21659.70.0
- Pierburg 7.21659.72.0
- Febi 29464
- Bosch 0 580 464 999

Ok, what is EPC?

Electronic Parts Catalogue - for us mortals it comes in form of a desktop application, and requires Internet access. Workshops can get it in offline form on DVD. You put your VIN in, and it shows you every single part for your MB vehicle, grouped into themes like "front doors" or "fuel system" etc. It will show part numbers, with drawings and an overview assembly. It can also show replacement parts (there's a lot of part numbers that changed over the years), and current general (but not real time) availability in MB stock. If you're buying a lot of parts, you just can't do a proper job of it without EPC access.

It looks like this:

1988 "Arctic White" W124 200T
1979 "Icon Gold" W116 450SE

So what site do I go to for this?

epc.startekinfo.com

It's free for U.S. cars, but if you want access to the world wide market, which includes you're British right hand drive, you'll have to pay something like $12 or $14.  The subscription is for a year.

I saw that but they don't support Mac OS

polymathman

Actually, it should work on a Mac, but whoever put the program together made sure it doesn't. It's a Java app and should run flawlessly, but I had an IT guy look at it and he told me that it checks for what system is running and specifically excludes Mac OS.

I suppose that we could dun MB with complaints, but that looks like a long shot.

I just use a Windows emulator.

Just means I would have to install window and thats gonna cost for the Microsoft OS, less money to spend on my W116 :'(

So even if JAVA is installed on a MAC operating system it still won't work?

Java is generally installed by default on a Mac. We even tried walking it back in versions - no good. It downloads the entire Java file each time, so you would have to go into the code and tweak it everytime you started the Java app. Pain in the ass, for no good reason.
