Anyone have a part number for the lower ball joint?  (Are they still available?)

Thanks

Which model?  6.9 hydro strut?
Front ones you can find aftermarket on ebay, rear ones good luck.
Or are you talking about ball joint in the bottom of the spindle?  Those ones are cheap and readily available.  Only buy good brand like TRW or Lemforder.

Thanks.  It's the one on the lower control arm.  MB still stocks.  Are the aftermarket the same?  Big price differences.

Oh heck yeah, you can easily go aftermarket on these, TRW or Lemforder are good ones.  For the love of all things good and decent not ever URO :o :o :o

Hope you have the right tool/press for this jobby.  This is one of those jobs where you have to have the tool, no way around it, unless you want to fab a tool/jig which some guys have, but then you still need a press too.

Looks like this:

I just did the front lower ball joints on mine. They are removed by simply knocking them out with a hammer (it's not easy though - use a drift of some kind, and a big hammer).

Installation does require a special tool. I made my own long pipe like the link above, using steel pipe from the home store, and my 20 ton press. The pipe bent. I know, the actual tool is hardened. Then I found this thread and did it this way with the clamp and removing the boot.
