oil pressure
« on: 29 June 2005, 02:08 PM »
Hi has anyone had a bad experience with the timing chain tensioner on the 4.5. I've noticed that when at a stop light after about 20 minutes of the freeway at 90MPH the oil pressure drops to about 20PSI when it should be at least 40PSI. I factored in the viscosity of the oil (mobile one synthetic)and still cannot figure out why it is so low but I have a suspicion that the tensioner isn't holding pressure Well enough
Thanks

Thomas

Watch your rpms when you come to stop after driving fast. It could just be that they are dropping slightly too low and the oil pressure drops because the engine is working slowly.
