I am sure this is simple or gone over already but I have a 75 450se and it ran great now I can't get it to start I replaced the coil distributor cap , rotor and plugs. I swapped out my icu with another car and it worked fine. I get one spark from the wire coming off of the coil but not on the plug wires. Going a little crazy any help would be appreciated.
If you get good spark on the coil wire going into the distributor but no spark on any of the plug leads, then your problem lies between the cap and rotor. Check for a cracked rotor.
Thanks , I tested and replaced the rotor and cap. ( It looks like I only get one quick spark from the lead from the coil too not sure if that is right either) I don't know if my points can be burnt out ?
You don't say if the car ran fine and then suddenly died or what are the symptoms? Why did you replace the rotor and plugs?
I recommend doing some basic diagnostics on the coil first. The ignition amplifier may have failed. Do you have a spare handy?
I have a few cars here I swapped out the coil wire , the ignition control unit, cap, rotor ballast resistors and all work fine
