Loss of power during acceleration.

Hello all,

On a recent trip my 74 450se experienced a sudden power loss during acceleration. I limped it home.

It has no issues starting or keeping a decent idle however it will occasionally backfire at high rpm and still refuses to give full power comesurate with throttle.

I've started to get a bit of a leak from the valve cover gasket but not much.

Any thoughts?

backfire thru the intake is caused by lean condition.  could be fuel pump or vac leak, check hose to power steering booster, other vac lines.

Cool. I'm going to crack the fuel line to make sure the fuel pump is still going strong. Are the vac lines in the service library?
