Title: Locked my keys in car while running - 300SD
Post by: Harv on 07 December 2020, 03:24 PM
By a stroke of very bad luck, the doors locked while the car was running, and my key is turned in the ignition running while all the doors are locked. I can't find my other key for the life of me and I think it is lost.

The good news, the hood is open. Can I pull vacuum on one of the lines to see if it will pull open the door locks? Any idea what hose it is?

You can try but I do not think it'll work.  At the brake booster there should be a grey with blue trace line, that goes to the vacuum tank in the fender, try pulling it off at the blue check valve.  From memory also there should be a yellow line going into the cabin via the firewall, should also have a check valve in the brake booster area.

What would pull the door locks open? Adding to the system? Or pulling vacuum out with the pump?

Just to put a bow on this one.

I called the Classic Center and they ordered me a new key. Popped it in the door lock and everything was perfect. A major crisis averted.
