Title: Lights ON Alarm / Alert
Post by: elcoleccionista on 18 June 2022, 06:53 PM
I wonder if the W116 came with an alarm on "Lights On" to prevent you to drain your battery.

My car (W116 280 SE 1997) seem not have this "alarm" but I do have it in my (C123 280 CE 1981).

Can any one help to understand where to find if there is anything broken / missing? Or its a feature that never came in that model / year w116?

Thanks,
RG

I am not aware of a "lights on" warning on the 116.  The only warning systems I am aware of is the "seatbelt on" warning light on dash, as well as the (super annoying) warning chime for key in ignition.

Mine shrieks when you open the door when the key is in, and when the key is out but the lights are still on (Except parking lights).

I think the buzzer is built into the light switch itself. I've never found a separate part that could be it when disassembling my parts car (or I've already forgotten... one of the two :))

My 1979 shrieks like a banshee when the door is open with lights left on.

Thank you all for your answers. I will check on mine (I was referring to the buzzer when you open the door and while left the lights on).

The other day it drained my battery (for forgetting to tunr off the lights and not having the buzzer).

Mine its a 1977 w116.
