Intermittent squeaking brake sound with speed

Hi all,

I have recently noticed that my 280se has developed an intermittent squeaking brake sound that goes on and off when driving in excess of 10-20kmh.

Its a very high pitched sound that oscillates repeatedly, and sometimes changes with steering.

I recently (a few months ago) got the brake system redone by a local mechanic, with new rotor and pads.

Is this an issue with the wheel bearings? Or perhaps the brakes need to be reseated or something-or-other?
(Since the brakes were replaced, the brakes do make a loud brake sound when braking backwards- I am unsure if this issue is related.)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did mechanic put brake grease on back of pads?

I'm unsure, the noise did begin a few months after the brake replacement. (the reverse noise has always been there).

Could this be from a sticking brake (pad/pads)?

The noise has gotten a bit more prominent recently I think.

It's a very cyclic sound, a squeak squeak squeak, with the speed of the wheels. When I press the brake it goes away, thoughts?

What brand of pads? Mb makes good ones.

Squeel squeaking is vibrations. Have you checked if "brake grease " on back of pads?

Sounds like the pad is remaining in contact with the warped disc.
Either the pad is not free in the caliper or the caliper is binding or the piston is binding or the disc is warped.
As the caliper on these is largely non floating it's still worth a double check. For mine we go back to ground zero..........check freedom of pad..securing of caliper and run out of the disc.
You maybe be able to recreate the sound by jacking the car up..removing the wheel and rotating the disc...albeit it will be slow. Not sure how many wheels are affected but check handbrake is fully releasing.
You may need to massage the piston. It needs to be able to freely move in and out of the caliper...........there is plenty of pressure when the brakes are applied but when the pedal is off,  it relies on being able to be released by the minute runout in the disc and tension in the O ring to clear the disc.  It's called "knock off".
There's plenty to check here and maybe beyond the scope of your facilities...maybe go back to the brake guy if you are not confident.

I think I'll take a look at the pads this weekend and try to narrow down which wheel(s) may be specifically causing the sound. Then I'll check for grease and whatnot, and see if that fixes the issue. I'll report back after that.
