Interesting D Jet info

The Bosch classic site lists a repair kit for the D Jet pulse generator (trigger points) that they will soon have available for sale, Benz part numbers 000 158 01 19 and 000 158 03 19 which according to the EPC look like they cover

the range of V8s, don't know what the kit contains but could be an easier and cheaper alternative to trying to find new trigger points. They don't show up on the Bosch classic ebay site yet but hopefully will soon be available,

I'm very interested to see what this contains. Hope this might be of some use to others also.

Ive just acquired a 74 450SEL and im wondering if there is a list somewhere of good D jet resources?

oscar

That's interesting Ken.  I remember you mentioned the bosch classic site before in another thread but I couldn't find it.  Could you post a link?

Hi Tony, there's two sites that come to mind when I first started reading up on d-jet.

The first gives a run down on what bit does what.
http://www.thebenzbin.com/mercedes-d_jetronic_1.html

The second one gets to the nitty gritty.  Albeit for Porsches and not V8 mercs but still very in depth and relevant.  You might browse at first but revisit later saying aha, I see what's what.  It was, still is I suppose, my d-jet bible.  Scroll to the d-jet section

No worries Oscar, here's the site;

http://www.automotive-tradition.de/en/start/index.htm

If you go to knowledge you can find a list of all Bosch components in your vehicle, there's also a section where you can see what they have available for a given vehicle with Benz part numbers to cross reference, pretty handy.
And their ebay site;

Does anyone have any more info on this? It looks like the trigger points on my 74 350SE are worn and I need to find a replacement. I'm not impressed with the price quoted by MB.

KenM

Hey Fig,

If you go to this site  http://www.automotive-tradition.de/en/start/index.htm  and look under current reproduced products they have a repair kit for trigger points. It gives a list of distributors for which the kit

is suitable, you will need to check for the M116 but there are quite a few there. These kits don't show up on their ebay site so you might have to contact them another way.

Hope this helps,

fig

The Bosch Classic Centre lists them as available for, take a deep breath, 410 Euros which I would think does not  include shipping! It also lists all the engines it will fit, also some spare parts that are available.

That's a little steep alright, you can get a whole brand new distributor from them for about 800 I think. Would be worthwhile following Oscar's lead and try tweaking a couple of things yourself by the sound of

it.
