Title: Inductive pick up on cyl #1 original cable
Post by: Trapo on 12 February 2020, 03:15 PM
Old Merceditas deserved a new set of ignition leads, I'm almost sure it was running on original set.
I have replaced all but #1 because it has an inductive pick up.
I can remove it by cutting the old cable, but has anyone been able to reinstall it on the new one?
Can it be disassembled somehow?
Thank you.

You'll need to unscrew the plug end that goes on to the sparking plug.  Slide the piece on to the wire, and then screw the end back on.  I see you split your loom, too.  When replacing plug wires you have to unscrew the ends off of the wires that goes to the sparking plugs.  You then slide the wires through the loom, and then screw on the ends again.  You're heart is in the right place for wanting to do it right, and because of that you should buy new looming and start over so it's correct.  :)

Thanks Utn-boy.  Got a new sleeve and rubber grommet and disassembled the leads to pass them through. Even placed the number markers on the new leads. Running fine now.
