Ignition lock removal

Started by Feather535, 05 June 2023, 09:35 AM

I started another thread about the ignition circuit in a 280 SE being energized even with the switch off and the key removed.  The ignition switch (the electrical part) is probably the culprit, and I have removed it for testing.  The ignition lock seems to work normally, but I want to test it, too.  However, I can't see how to remove it.

I read this and watched this video but I don't see the slot they describe for inserting a pin and releasing the lock.  The lock cylinder has a black plastic sleeve around it.  Does that need to be removed in order to access the slot?
