Help, my car is bleeding... and warm up is too noisy!

2-3 drops a night would be OK for me, just put down a drip tray in my garage and top the fluids up every fortnight when I check other fluids (water, oil, brake fluid and washer water) but 1 litre of Penrite MB-15 in the 13km drive from work to home is just too much.. even for a 30 year old car.

Hope everyone has their fingers crossed for me, I'll let you know how I go after lunch.

Penrite MB-15

What's this then?  I thought from previous advice that anything other than FEBI or Lemfoerder hydro oil will stuff seals in struts.  Especially AT fluid.
What are you using 13B?  I mean what's the go with the Penrite stuff?

MB 15 is Penrite's special hydro fluid for Mercedes Benz self levelling systems.  It ranges from $8.50/ltr if purchased from Penrite factory in Melb, to $20/ltr from Bursons.  The place replacing my hydro pump sells it for $12/ltr... Trouble is most knuckle-dragging Penrite stockists don't know it exists, and Penrite's web site makes no mention of it either.

Have a read:

 8) 8) 8) Thanks for that.

Cheapest Febi/Lemfoerder I've bought in Aus was $20/L at MBSpares.  My mechanic charged me $34 and the local spares dude that wants my business made a phonecall and came back with $50 delivered in a coupl-a-days.  Struth!!

I can guarantee I wont be able to get the Penrite stuff locally any cheaper than $20 but I'll keep it mind and source some from the city next time I've drained a system empty and give it a try.  I've got Lemfoerder ATM and I suppose it wouldn't be a good idea to mix brands.  Very handy to know there's an alternative.

$308 drive-in-drive-out to repair, not bad, this included a good used hydro pump and 3 litres of oil, and labour.  Will cover some km and let you know how it goes.

Des

Just read this thread, I hadn't been alerted to it earlier,

I did mention the sunroof leaking here a long time ago, when I put the car through a car wash,

some people here and on the M100 site mentioned that it is normal under the high pressure of these washers for the seals to leak.

As I never drove it in the rain, well maybe once or twice in over 1 years ownership, I never noticed the sunroof leaking.

I hope, contrary to the feeling I got reading the posts earlier in this thread that I sold Ian a lemon and bolted with his money.

Des, I'd be really surprised if anyone here really thought you sold a lemon and bolted. You lavished attention on the car as would any other enthusiast. Regardless, things perish, things break no matter what car it is.
P.S when are you going to show us pics of the Bentley?

Nah its all good Des, I don't expect perfection in a 28 year old car.  The car's no lemon, and with the replacement pump the suspension is better than ever.

As for the sunroof, well, lets just say I've never owned a 116 that hasn't had a leaky sunroof.

For purpose I bought the car for, now the suspension has stopped bleeding, its still the car I'd prefer to drive each day.

I.

I hope that wasn't because of my post.... :(

I wasn't implying anything like that, I was referring to your whereabouts on the forum as Ian might have wanted to ask about the little issues and what you know about fixing them.

Sorry if I caused any confusion  :)
