So this was bought under the pretense it was a 1975 450se with the 4.5.
The kicker is I think it has the 6.9.
How can I be sure, like how do I figure out the model of the engine and Trans
Something's missing here. Pictures?
Before you said it was a DJET, the 6.9 did not come with DJET only KJET.
Simple. All you need is to look at the metal tag next to the radiator top. Or the engraved numbers (VIN) on the firewall top-center area.
116032 450 SE 4.5 L M117 V8 engine
116033 450 SEL 4.5 L M117 V8 engine
116036 6.9. M100 V8 engine
Hope it helps.
Cheers

Tell tale sign of it being a 6.9 power plant is no oil filler cap on top of the left rocker cover, and a large sump tank on the side.
It would've been a transplant as there was no 6.9 version of the 450SE, only the SEL, and not before 1977 in the US.
Add a photo. That'll tell us for sure. What makes you think it's a 6.9? The engine drives very very differently from the 4.5l V8.
If all else fails: from a dead stop, give the car about half throttle. If the car lumbers forward? 4.5l V8. If you spin the tires for 5+ ft? 6.9L. Don't ask how I know this.
How do you know this?
;D
Thank you all for helping me eventhough I've been afk.
I thought it was a 6.9 because the previous owner had swapped some parts from his 6.9 and while replacing them I couldn't figure out which were the right parts. Is most definitely a 4.5
It has a k-jet pump and filter for fuel, which is where most of my confusion stemmed from.
Sadly, it still won't run, but that's another thread.
