(cough) Hey (hack, hack) what are "emissions?"  Here in the land of the spree and the home of the crave, blue smoke is considered as much a right of the elderly as camel cigarettes and oxygen bottles.

But seriously, they run emissions on a 32 year old car?  That's ridiculous.

I found this pic on the 'net, but I saw this exact same thing on the road today.

Ahhhhh. Indiana.

Lol yeah they actually test any car no matter how old it is unless you pay up for collector plates...and you can only get collector plates if it's pre 1975.

Kansas doesn't have emissions tests, but Oregon does. It was a pain in the ass.

My 1980 300SD had to pass an emissions test. Luckily, it passed with good results.

I'm about to take the 1980 300SD for emissions here in Oregon... any tips or tricks to help it pass? I'm not (too) concerned since the previous owner just passed it less than 6 months ago. But since the car changed owners I have to run it through again (lame). The only thing I know and have done in the past is to make sure the engine is warm. I usually drove on the highway out to a DEQ that's 15 miles away. Never failed before but this is my first diesel. Can't believe a 32 year old diesel has to get tested  ???

Drink lots of water, take vitamin B12 to make the emissions yellow instead of clear, and pop some aspirin to interfere with the EMIT drug screening. Then you should be good to go.

I wouldn't worry about it. What could have happened in 6 months to fuck up your emissions?
